Some Effects Produced by Adding Rhenium to Alloys of Tungsten and Carbon

One aspect of the rhenium alloying effect in tungsten which has not been explored quantitatively to the extent which its potential importance warrants is the change in the jump frequency of an interstitial carbon atom in a tungsten lattice. The work was designed to study this phenomenon from two aspects; the effect of rhenium on the diffusivity of carbon in tungsten and the effect on an anelastic relaxation dependent upon the jumping of carbon in a stressed tungsten lattice.
