Landslide Terrane Near Medellin, Colombia

摘要

Three groups of landslides and mudflows totalling 22 square kilometers are recognized near Medellin, Colombia. The deposits are described and alternative hypotheses are proposed to account for their origin. It is suggested that pre-historic earthquake shocks triggered the slides. The significance of mass-wasting as a degradational process in the geomorphic evolution of a seismically active region is described and evaluated. (Author)
