摘要

Zinc rich epoxy coatings, with and without topcoats, were exposed to marine atmospheric environments at Kwajalein, Marshall Islands, Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Port Hueneme, California for periods up to 3 years. These coatings were found to be excellent coatings for protecting steel in marine atmospheric environments. The alkyd enamel, TT-E-489c, applied directly over the zinc-rich epoxy and topcoated with a silicone alkyd proved to be the best topcoat system. A modified Navy saran coating containing 5 pounds of zinc dust per gallon of coating gave excellent protection to steel in marine atmospheric environments. (Author)
