摘要

An attempt is made to outline a paradigmatic theory for a phenomenon called man-made space. The man-made space consists of psychological, artifact, and organizational domains, which, while possessing peculiarities of their own, constitute the man-made environment. Within this environment individuals develop and advance. The purpose of this endeavor is to merge the views of social and natural sciences about man and his designs. Such a unified view is urgently needed for urban and environmental studies. The theory is built from fragments of general knowledge scattered through scientific literature. The proposed paradigm is to lead toward the general systems theory of man-made space. (Author)
