摘要

The oxygen K alpha emission band positions of oxides of a transition metal (manganese, titanium and iron) are found to vary as a continuous function of the metal-oxygen ratio of the emitter, the shift in position being toward shorter wavelengths as the oxidation state is increased. It is demonstrated that the oxygen emission band shift technique can be applied as an aid toward the characterization of thin films formed on iron and other metals. (Author)
