Some Contributions to the Techniques for Testing Compact Heat Exchanger Surfaces

Two techniques for testing compact heat exchangers are refined. They are the maximum-slope variation of the single-blow transient technique, and the regular periodic technique. The maximum-slope method is improved by using an electronic control to produce a very fast heater response, thereby generating a sharper step change in airstream temperature. The design method for the electronic control is presented along with an experimental verification of its function. (Author)
