A toroidal-ferrite-type storage is described which was developed for a miniature control digital computer. External and internal memories are combined in one device;they have a common decoder,read amplifiers,output shapers,etc. Direct access and full-current write and read are used in the internal memory. A transformer-type circuit is used in the external memory. The internal-memory 'cube'comprises four 125 x 80 x 15-mm plates,with 32 15-digit numbers on each plate. A transistorized read amplifier has a sensitivity of 150 mv (noise, 30 mv or less). A transistorized read-current shaper converts 0.4-v signals into 0.7-amp, 2.5-mu sec pulses. The decoder is designed with ferrite cores and operates on the current-distribution principle. The storage is claimed to reliably operate at plus or minus 60centigrade and at supply-voltage variations with plus or minus 20percent.
