Towards a Completely Automatic Layout Designer

A topographical layout design program has been written in ALGOL to rearrange an initial configuration of components in order to minimize connection distances, minimize connection crossovers, and space components evenly over available area. The syntax and semantics of all design procedures are given, as well as examples of the automatic designer's performance. (Author)
