Method of Preparing Lubricating Oils

As is known, mineral oils are used as lubricating oils in chlorine compressors. When used in chlorine compressors under conditions of contact with the chlorine mineral oils are strongly chlorinated; the oils thicken and a large quantity of tarry residue and carbon deposits is formed. In order to provide effective operation of mineral oils in chlorine compressors it is proposed that additives consisting of Ionol and an antifoaming agent be added to their composition. To improve the antiwear properties of the lubricating oil an antiwear additive - chlorinated paraffin with a chlorine content no less than 40 wt. % - was added to the composition listed above. The obtained lubricating oil compositions provide normal operations in conditions of possible contact with chlorine. (Author)
