Treatment of Typhoid and Paratyphoid Fever with Nalidixic Acid

Thirty-two patients with proven typhoid or paratyphoid fever were studied clinically and bacteriologically and treated with nalidixic acid, 60 to 100 mg per kilogram body weight daily for 10 days. Twenty-eight out of 32 patients were cured. The average period for the patients to become afebrile was 9.5 days. No side-effects of therapy were noted. (Author)
