A previously published method is used for calculating the stability of circular and annular plates with homogeneous and nonhomogeneous boundary conditions. It is shown that the use of the discrete method for solving this stability problem with homogeneous boundary conditions gives results which coincide with analytical solutions. Consequently the method is applicable also for calculations with various types of nonhomogeneous boundary conditions if the circular and annular plates are divided by a sufficiently large number of straight lines. A system of differential matrix equations is derived which is solved to give a system of independent functions. Thus calculations by the discrete method employ the same type of operations in a cyclic scheme which is adaptable to programming on digital computers.
