The invention involves a device to protect a turbocompressor from surge. The device contains an auxiliary relay and a differential measuring mechanism located in a housing which is divided by a membrane supporting a spring-loaded rod. The membrane divides the housing into two cavities: one is connected directly to the pressure line and the other,through a throttle. To increase the rate of operation and the reliability,the cavities contain shut-off valve elements which are connected directly to the pressure line and fastened to the spring-loaded rod. These valve elements cover inverted valve seats on both sides;the seats are separated by an auxiliary membrane forming the cavities of the auxiliary relay in the housing. These cavities are connected to the pressure line and are vented to the atmosphere. (Author)
