Descriptions are given of multiclock frequency memory and logic circuits,based on standardized ferrite-diode and ferrite-transistor elements. These circuits are more economical and have better performance characteristics than systems operating with two clock frequencies. The economy and superior performance of the described systems are primarily due to two factors: (1) multiclock frequency logic can execute operations uniformly;and (2) fewer elements are required in multiclock frequency logic and shift registers (making possible,in a number of cases,greater operating speed). For example, a shift register with 4clock frequencies (and 4synchronizing inputs) operates 6times faster and requires fewer elements than a register with c equals 2having the same bit capacity. The disadvantage of such a register is that it requires a gate operating at a frequency of 4f,where f is the basic clock frequency. When multiclock frequency registers and logic circuits are combined,an even greater economy in the number of elements used can be achieved. About 10-25percent fewer elements are required to build a register with a two-stage adder,operating with 4clock frequencies,than for a comparable ciruict with c equals 2. (Author)
