摘要

The primary purpose of the model study was the determination of the effects of hurricane barrier plans on tides, currents, salinities, and dye dispersion patterns throughout the bay complex for normal conditions. However, long-range planners in the Galveston District must consider, among other things, freshwater flow diversions and power-generating plant cooling requirements as well as hurricane surge protection barriers for both normal and hurricane tide conditions. It is presently estimated that freshwater inflow regulations and diversion will certainly be necessary and will possibly be accomplished before completion of a hurricane protection plan. Therefore, after completing hydraulic, salinity, and dye dispersion tests to define existing conditions, duplicate tests were made for regulated upland flows and diversions estimated for 1980.
