Military Unions: An Analysis of Unionization in Norway and Germany as it Relates to the United States.

The report is a descriptive analysis of two military unions that are successfully operating in two countries, Norway and West Germany. The background and historical development of each union is provided, along with their functions. Each union has limitations placed upon its operation by the respective governments. From this background the advantages and disadvantages of a military union to military members and military managers are examined. Five limitations that are common to both the Norwegian and West German unions are discussed with reference to their applicability to the armed forces of the United States, should unionization of our military forces occur.
