Effects of High Pressure on Materials: Synthesis, Structure, and Properties

摘要

The broad objectives of the research discussed was twofold: To learn the nature of high-pressure phases and thereby to contribute to a better understanding of crystal chemistry and structural principles underlying the solid state; and To develop and assess the potentiality of the new Linac method of obtaining neutron diffraction data. With regard to the first item, considerable progress has been made in characterizing a variety of materials and in developing improved techniques. Continual progress in technique has been made with the Linac and various types of substances have been studied at elevated temperatures, as well as room temperature. (Author)
