Synchronization and Generation of Coded Sequences with Acoustic Surface Wave Techniques.

The report describes in-house investigation into the implementation of pseudonoise sequences for synchronization preambles in cordinated multiple access systems. The use of and the problems in the use of maximal length sequences as the preamble is briefly described. Concern is centered about the reduction in voltage processing gain encountered when the sequences are burst correlated. The use of acoustic surface wave multiple tap delay lines to implement the waveforms is described. Particular attention is paid to metallized interdigital transducers on piezoelectric substrates. Experimental results with 70MHz encoding and decoding devices are presented. (Author)
