Artificial Intelligence and Large Interactive Man Computer Systems.

摘要

The paper reports on SCHOLAR,the first prototype system capable of a true mixed-initiative man-computer dialogue on a given topic. The computer is not only capable of answering questions from the man (both using a comfortable and not too restricted subset of English),but also of generating questions,analyzing the man's responses,and producing reasonable consequent actions. All this occurs without full anticipation of conversational items and sequences. A very powerful program,applicable to many subject matters,acts upon a highly structured data base to generate the computer answers and questions,to evaluate the man's answers,and to produce suitable action sequences. The paper discusses recent additions such as an improved inference making capability,more flexible handling of natural language,and a new sophisticated graphic capability. (Author)
