摘要

A new approach for the solution of the problem associated with the transmission of electromagnetic energy in dense forests was conceived and successfully demonstrated in field experiments. In actual testing in dense vegetation, forest trees coupled with a toroidal Hybrid Electromagnetic Antenna Coupler (HEMAC) showed themselves to be superior in performance to a vertical whip antenna. The analysis of the data compiled indicate that the signal emitted thru the use of a HEMAC in a forest duct decays as 1/r and 1/square root of r which indicates the existence of both space and surface wave modes.
