摘要

The stress corrosion cracking susceptibility of two maraging steels (12 and 18 Ni) in a 3.5% NaCl aqueous solution was examined as a function of aging treatment. Comparisons are made of time and nominal stress to failure for three aging treatments giving for the 12-Ni composition a yield strength level of 160 ksi, and one of 180 ksi for the 18-Ni steel. The overaged condition was the most susceptible in both steels. The underaged specimens showed evidence of crack blunting; in terms of time to failure and threshold level, the higher temperature underaging treatment was found preferable. (Author)
