The Nucleophilic Destruction of Some Model Riot Control Agents in Detergent Micelles

The nucleophilic destruction of certain agents such as CS and phenacyl bromide is catelyzed by positvely charged, and inhibited by negatively charged, detergent micelles. The opposite effect is observed for the Schiff base N-benzylideneaniline. These effects are interpreted in terms of the microenvironmental forces that are exerted on the bound agents by the micelle.
