Conical acrylic windows with five included angles (alpha) from 30 to 150 degrees and thickness-to-minor-diameter (t/D) ratios from 0.375 to 1.00 have been subjected to 5,000 psi of sustained hydrostatic loading for up to 1,000 hours in the temperature range from 65F to 75F while the axial displacement of the windows through the flange has been monitored. The magnitude of axial displacement was found to be a function of alpha, t/D ratio, temperature, and duration of loading. Only windows with t/D ratios greater than or equal to 1.000, 0.625, 0.500, 0.500, and 0.500 for 30-, 60-, 90-, 120-, and 150-degree conical angles, respectively, were found to be free of cracks.
