The overall objective of the program was to help to extend the aircraft operating interval between rework and maintenance actions and savings of aircraft rework hours. The program goal was to improve the performance of current solid lubricant materials and processes, via several ways: Substitution of new and improved materials and processes; Introduction of solid lubricants to new applications where they could be advantageously used; Simplification or elimination of unneeded processing steps. Formal recommendations were formulated and are contained in this report. (Author)
