Eigenvalues of Symmetric Five-Diagonal Matrices

Several methods for finding eigenvalues of symmetric five-diagonal matrices are compared experimentally. The results indicate that if relatively few eignevalues are desired a modified Sturm sequence and interpolation scheme is fastest. (Author)
