摘要

The report contains the study results from an experimental investigation of techniques for subdividing computer programs and the data areas operated on by them into fixed length pages. The techniques which have been investigated are mathematical algorithms which are used to minimize or reduce the frequency of reference to instructions or data areas assigned to pages that are not immediately addressable. The algorithms are suitable for implementation as procedures within a compiler, thus permitting the automatic organization of computer programs into pages during the compilation process, or in certain cases during a recompilation. The present experimental investigation is the successor to previous studies performed by Informatics in which the original algorithms were developed and portions of the experimental system created. Volume 2 of the report contains Appendices in which detailed programming information is presented for those portions of the system which have been implemented under the current study. (Author)
