Determination of Picogram Amounts of 99Tc by Neutron Activation Analysis

Thermal neutron activation of 99Tc to 100Tc by the (n, gamma) reaction was used to determine picogram amounts of 99Tc in a highly purified aqueous medium. A rapid post-irradiation procedure was developed to purify and separate 100Tc fraction from other induced radionuclides in 40-45 seconds. The technetium yield of 53 plus or minus 5% was conducted in a low background beta-counter. (Author)
