Requirements for higher output signal from thin-film resistance thermometer heat gauges have been met by the technique of increasing the current that activates the gauge. However, the surface temperature of the gauge is increased by the higher film current. This affects the thermal properties of the surface upon which the thin film is deposited. In the report, tests are described that lead to an empirical relation that determines how much increase in signal may be expected from a platinum thin-film pyrex gauge when the activating film current is increased.
