Investigation of Electronically Tunable Optical Filters

摘要

The authors have demonstrated an electronically tunable dye laser whose wavelength could be varied over 800A with a resolution of about 1A. Of particular importance, this electronically tuned laser has the unique capability of producing two randomly accessible and simultaneous frequencies. This capability was obtained by allowing two acoustic frequencies to be simultaneously incident on the acousto-optic filter. Each of these frequencies create an independent passband which may be tuned and modulated without regard to other output frequencies of the device. In another area of substantial progress on this contract a combined theoretical and experimental study of the aperture bandwidth characteristics of the electronically tunable optical filter has been completed.
