Existing solutions to the diffusion equation for current in a cylindrical conductor are used to provide estimates of the non-uniformity of current density during typical wire explosions. These estimates are given in the form of inequalities which are then used to specify the conditions under which current distribution and heating effect can be considered uniform. (Author)
