AC Electric Wheel Design Study.

摘要

A design study of an AC Electric Wheel has been conducted by the General Electric Company and results are presented. All contract requirements have been met including an evaluation of gear shift vs. no gear shift,design of an integrated motor-gear-wheel assembly with potential use in construction equipment and trucks,and defining possible problem areas. In addition,several tradeoff studies were conducted on motor types,motor design parameters,gearing,seals,and bearings. Four candidate configurations were developed during the study including two gear shift and two non-gear shift versions. The final design recommended by General Electric Co. and subsequently approved by MERDC was a non-gear shift version utilizing a high speed squirrel cage water cooled induction motor,three stage star type gearing,and splash lubrication with water cooling.
