摘要

The mechanisms of deformation,crack initiation and propagation under uniaxial strain cycling were studied on commercially pure 2024-T4aluminum alloy by optical,transmission and scanning electron microscopy. It was found that the constituent particles (inclusions) above a given size play an important role in the crack initiation process at low and at high strain amplitudes. Crack initiation always takes place at the site of an inclusion which may have cracked during prior rolling or during the initial strain cycling. (Author)
