Nondestructive Testing Techniques for Titanium Billets.

摘要

A program to develop and improve nondestructive testing methods for titanium alloy billets was sponsored by the Air Force. Large diameter billets were fabricated as ultrasonic test standards for evaluation of several ultrasonic techniques. Standard radiographic penetrameters were used for evaluating betatron radiographic procedures. Billet sizes investigated during the program were 5, 10and 17inches in diameter. Ultrasonic techniques studies included the evaluation as through transmission,pulse-echo longitudinal and shear waves as well as pitch-catch longitudinal and shear waves. (Author)
