摘要

The report summarizes the results of a three year program directed to the development of hydrostatic and hydrodynamic journal and thrust bearings for use in air,under non-isothermal operating conditions,over the following ranges: (A) 0to 90,000RPM from 80F to 1400F bearing temperature; (B) 0to 60,000RPM from 80F to 1900F bearing temperature. Included in this report is a summary of material and coating evaluations for high temperature operation of gas lubricated bearings. Results of mechanical and thermal distortions of hydrostatic journal and thrust bearings and hydrodynamic herringbone journal and spiral groove thrust bearings are presented. Actual operation of both hydrodynamic and hydrostatic bearings to 1400F is described and the limitations of these bearings is discussed. (Author)
