An Adaptive Array for Interference Rejection in a Coded Communication System

An adaptive receiving array for rejecting interference in a coded communication system is described and computer simulations are presented which illustrate basic properties of the array processor. The array automatically forms a beam in the direction of a signal bearing the proper code modulation and forms nulls in the directions of signals bearing improper modulation. The communication signal present at the array input is assumed to be biphase (0-180 degrees) modulated by the modulo-2 sum of a periodically-repeating code and a data sequence. The code is assumed known at the receiving site and is the means by which array distinguishes between desired and undesired signals. (Author)
