On Sequential Communication Schemes with Information Feedback

摘要

Two feedback communication schemes with an upper bound on the maximum decision time are analyzed. The first scheme is a sequential system with constant antipodal signaling. In addition to the decision feedback channel, an information feedback channel is used for energy saving. The performance of this scheme is derived for both the noiseless and the noisy feedback channels. Two of the existing systems may be obtained as limiting cases of the combined scheme considered here. An M-ary sequential scheme with intermittent information feedback is also considered. The signals are assumed to be mutually orthogonal over a set of discrete subintervals of the maximum transmission period. It has been shown that both schemes provide a better performance than the corresponding sequential and the nonsequential schemes at the expense of increased signal peak power. (Author)
