Methods for statistical estimation of the power radiation from point excited, finite, fluid loaded cylindrical shells as well as of the power flow for a three-element coupled system consisting of a finite volume filled with a dense fluid, a finite cylindrical shell structure, and the acoustical volume contained by the shell structure, are reviewed and developed. A procedure is developed for statistical estimation of the magnitude of the acoustic power radiated from such structures due to resonant modal motion, and the relative magnitude of this component is compared with that due to nonresonant motion. For the specific shells under study, the magnitudes of the two components are comparable. (Author)
