Parametric Interaction of Magnetostatic and Magnetoelastic Waves in Epitaxial YIG Films

The report consists of two parts. First the characteristics of magnetostatic surface waves in a transversely magnetized YIG film are described and the conditions required to observe the convolution of two countertraveling magnetostatic waves are discussed. In the second part the experiments that have been performed under the contract are described. Magnetostatic surface waves have been observed. The convolution experiments were inconclusive. (Author)
