摘要

The Navy Clothing and Textile Research Unit (NCTRU) tested the Standard Navy Mittens, Cloth, Insulated, Extreme-Cold-Weather (A-1) against four experimental configurations to ascertain manipulatory capabilities in several dexterities. Test results were measured against bare-hand performance at temperatures of 70 and 35F. and the experimental designs were tested against the Navy Standard at -20F. Results based on means calculated from mean performances of 10 test subjects indicated that the Navy Standard inhibited dexterity and tactile discrimination to a much greater degree than the experimental designs in all tests. Improved prototypes are being produced for further skin temperature measurements and testing of functionability prior to field trials. (Author)
