This report covers the work in an advanced development program directed towards meeting the requirements for multiple remote refrigeration loads. The effort includes the design, construction, and test evaluation of a compact airborne refrigeration system comprising one central compressor and valve assembly, and four remotely located cold finger units, each capable of providing 0.75 watts of cooling capacity at 77K. The refrigeration system was configured to mate to an AN/ALR-21 infrared set. The single cold finger meets its design requirements and had demonstrated the ability to perform as required in high and low ambient environments, (131 F and -65 F) . Further work is required to demonstrate the reliability and compatibility with AN/ALR-21 operating characteristics, operating simultaneously from a common compressor unit. (Author)
