Development of Production Methods for Generating Aspheric Lens Surfaces. Volume I.

摘要

The objective of this program was to develop a production method for manufacturing precision aspheric lens surfaces,in reasonable quantities and at a reasonable cost,without recourse to highly skilled craftsmanship. An investigation of several possible production methods and techniques culminated in the decision that the problem could best be solved with an electrically-controlled cutting machine which combined precision with flexibility and repeatability. Because of the critical tolerances involved,such a cutting machine must,of necessity,be an extremely accurate measuring device as well. (Author)
