摘要

The investigation was undertaken to prepare a number of diboride materials containing either ZrB2or HfB2as the principal component with selected additives designed to enhance one or more of the following: oxidation resistance,mechanical properties,and thermal stress resistance. Diboride materials,including ZrB2and HfB2with no additive,were fabricated with microstructural variations of grain size and porosity,principally by conventional hot pressing procedures which are suitable for the production of components such as nose caps,leading edges,vanes and similar objects anticipated for use in high velocity flight or reentry conditions.
