Force and Wear Analysis in Ceramic Processing

摘要

Grinding forces directly related to mechanical properties of ceramics and not influenced by diamond wear, were determined for four aluminas and silicon nitride as a function of surface speed. Relative wear rates were determined for all materials and conditions. Wear is linearly related to the Young's Modulus and is characteristic of material and environment. Ceramic grinding temperatures, estimated from calibrated light emission spectra yield values between 1350 and 1650K for the aluminas and 1750K for Si3N4. (Modified author abstract)
