Determination of the Dynamic Constitutive Properties of In-Situ Materials

The primary gaol of this program was to address and solve those theoretical and experimental problems associated with the development of a gage system for determining the in-situ constitutive properties of geologic materials. Gages to measure tangential stresses were designed, constructed, and tested using ytterbium as the active element. There were two major goals of the experimentation: to test the efficacy of the gage design and to determine the most reliable materials with which to encase the piezoresistive elements. (Author)
