Preparation and Properties of New Magnetic Transition Metal Chalcogenides

Research with the following goals is briefly summarized: To improve the facility available for the preparation of well-characterized compounds involving the transition metals and the group VB and VIB elements; To continue to develop new methods for the crystal growth of these compounds; and To study the effect of anion substitution, as well as the role of non-stoichiometry on the magnetic and electrical properties of these materials.
