摘要

Experiments using keV incident electrons scattered from atomic and molecular targets are described. The scattered electron intensity as a function of both scattered angle and energy lost by the incident electron upon collision with the target is recorded. Data of this type collected over a grid of both angle and energy loss values define a surface which contains extensive information concerning the electronic structure of the target system. The various regions of interest on this surface and their relationship to charge and momentum density are described within the framework of the first Born approximation. The theory is compared to recently collected data on atomic helium and molecular hydrogen. (Author)
