摘要

The relationship between oxide ion content of sodium sulfate and sulfidation attack was studied. The effect of liquid metal oxides such as V2O5 and MoO3 and their relationship with respect to sulfidation attack was also studied. It was shown that (1) the liquid metal oxides such as V2O5 and MoO5 markedly increase the rate of oxidation of alloys by fluxing the normally protective oxide; (2) during oxidation of superalloys, the refractory metal oxide would tend to vaporize from the surface but in the presence of Na2SO4, the rate of volatilization of these oxides is reduced; and (3) sulfur does play an important role in determining the depth to which sulfidation attack can occur.
