Several Practical Limitations of Direct Acoustic-Optical Imaging of Animal Tissues

Acoustic-optical imaging (Bragg imaging) of biological tissues is particularly useful in studying soft tissues but has been limited because of poor resolution and penetration. Some distortion arises from utilizing a system of spherical optics. Other distortions come from ultrasonic steaming in the interaction medium and from interactions between the signals from deep and superficial tissues. Aspects of these limitations are discussed.
