EXTENDED RANGE CONTROL ACTUATOR (CACS-30 COLD-GAS ACTUATOR)

The objective of this program was to provide a compact design, long duration control actuation system compatible with current production guided bomb kits. The contractor has developed a time-modulated, closed-center valve, cold-gas actuation system designated the CACS-30. This actuation system significantly extends the mission duration capabilities of the CACS-18 actuation system utilized in MK84 and MK118 Electro-Optical Guided Bomb. This report describes the performance results of the CACS-30 actuation system while under the influence of various environ¬mental conditions, such as operating high and low temperatures arid no-operating shock and vibration.
