摘要

That selenium circulates in the plasma bound to proteins has long been known. Studies of these selenium-containing proteins have not identified pure species but rather have suggested that selenium was bound to many proteins. Supraphysiologic amounts of selenium were administered with the (75)Se in nearly all of those studies and there is published work which indicates that the administration of such microgram quantities of selenium alters selenium metabolism in the whole animal as well as its plasma protein distribution. The present study shows that by using a column buffer of low ionic strength, differences in plasma protein binding of (75)Se due to dietary selenium can be demonstrated. Also, it compares protein binding of (75)Se following injection of a trace dose of selenium with that following an injection of 200 micrograms of selenium.
