摘要

A pyrolyzer with programming capability has been coupled in series with a thermal conductivity cell (T.C.) and a Mass Chromatograph. The T. C. cell permits selective trapping of decomposition products and also provides data that are complementary to thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses. The trapped portions are then analyzed by the Mass Chromatograph. The degradation of polyisobutylene, polypropylene and polystyrene (which have an extensive literature) and the degradation of a series of aliphatic polysulfones illustrate the capabilities of the system.
